Who we are
Rangbheeni is a women-led grassroot initiative working at the intersection of sustainability, livelihoods, and social equity rooted in the belief that those most affected by social and environmental challenges must be at the centre of the solutions.
Our work is not built for communities, but with them. Women from marginalized backgrounds are not just artisans, they are co-creators, decision-makers, and leaders shaping Rangbheeni every day.
Our grassroots programmes work in partnership with local communities to resolve the global skills gap and promote sustainable economic uplift. We believe that this work contributes to creating a more just, equitable, and sustainable world for everyone.
What makes Rangbheeni different is not just what we do, but how we do it, through trust, long-term engagement, and deep listening at the grassroots level.
What guides us

Mission
To transform textile waste into sustainable solutions by empowering marginalised women with dignified livelihoods and supporting better educational opportunities for their children, ensuring those most affected by climate change become agents of change.
Vision
A sustainable world where waste is reimagined as a resource, women lead inclusive climate action, and every child has the opportunity to learn and flourish.
Founder note
With over 9 years of experience in the social sector, Kumkum has worked at both grassroots and administrative levels with women, transgender communities, and marginalized groups across urban and rural India. She holds a Master’s degree in Community Organisation and Development Practices from TISS Mumbai, where her work focused on gender, health, livelihoods, and labour rights.
Kumkum’s field experience revealed that many marginalized women possess valuable skills but lack consistent livelihood opportunities, keeping them financially dependent and socially restricted
